“Death Toll Rises to 188 as Typhoon Tino Leaves a Trail of Destruction — Cebu Bears the Brunt”
The storm has passed, but the sorrow remains.
According to the NDRRMC, 188 people have been confirmed dead after Typhoon Tino ravaged the Visayas region and parts of Mindanao. Cebu alone recorded 139 fatalities — the worst hit province in the country.
In its latest report on Friday, November 7, the agency also listed 135 missing individuals and 96 injured. More than 2.2 million Filipinos were affected, with almost 400,000 still staying in evacuation centers.
Across the Visayas, floodwaters engulfed 123 areas and left nearly 10,000 homes in ruins. Agricultural losses have reached ₱10.615 million, crippling livelihoods already shaken by successive storms.
Vital utilities remain disrupted — 11 areas still without water, and 22 localities with cut communication lines. A total of 64 cities and municipalities have declared a state of calamity.
As the nation tries to heal from Tino’s wrath, a new threat emerges: Severe Tropical Storm Fung-Wong, poised to enter Luzon and potentially intensify into a super typhoon.
The Filipino spirit is tested once again — and once again, faith and resilience will be our strongest defense.
