DILG Clarifies: VP Sara Duterte Visited Arnie Teves, Not Ramil Madriga
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has confirmed that Vice President Sara Duterte visited a jail facility at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City—but not to see Ramil Madriga.

At a press conference, DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla clarified that the Vice President’s visit on October 19 was to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facility for Arnolfo Teves Jr., a former Negros Oriental congressman.
The clarification directly addresses claims circulating online suggesting the visit was linked to Madriga. According to the DILG, those claims are incorrect.
Officials emphasized that the visit was documented and specific to Teves, and there was no interaction with Madriga during the jail visit. The statement reinforces earlier denials from the Vice President’s camp regarding any ties or coordination with Madriga.
Supporters view the clarification as a reminder that facts, dates, and official records matter, especially amid heightened political tension and speculation. Critics may continue to raise questions, but the DILG’s account provides a clear timeline and purpose for the visit.
