Rep. Gerville Luistro speaking during a committee hearing emphasizing honesty, accountability, and public trust in government processes

Katapatan o Scripted Transparency? Rep. Luistro Speaks—But Filipinos Want Proof

November 22, 20253 min read

Here’s what this really means…

Maganda pakinggan ang “katapatan.” Walang kokontra diyan.

“We are doing this for transparency.”

  • Transparency is not declared — it is demonstrated

  • Accountability is not promised — it is enforced

  • Trust is not asked — it is earned

This raises a bigger issue…

Ang kultura ng “press statement governance.”

Yung tipong:
✔ May magandang quote
✔ May maayos na delivery
❌ Pero walang follow-through

💬 “Prove it. Hindi na kami basta naniniwala.”

At honestly? Valid lahat yan.

Why this matters…

  • Kahit may effort → babalewalain

  • Kahit may pagbabago → hindi mapapansin

Trust is the real currency in governance.

👉 Less talking.
👉 More proving.

Kundi…
“Ano ang ginawa mo?”

Romualdez Breaks Silence: “My Conscience Is Clear”—Pero Naniniwala Ba Ang Bayan?

Former Speaker Martin Romualdez has finally responded to the storm of corruption exposés surrounding the alleged P100-billion flood control kickbacks — claiming that his conscience is “clear” and that no evidence links him to any wrongdoing.

Former Speaker Martin Romualdez seated at a desk delivering a public statement denying involvement in alleged flood control kickbacks.

The statement comes after both the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) recommended filing plunder, graft, and indirect bribery charges against him and former Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co.

But Romualdez insists:

“Throughout all these proceedings, no credible evidence has ever linked me to any irregularity.”

He even expressed full trust in Ombudsman Boying Remulla, saying he’s confident the review will “reflect the truth.”
Ironically, Remulla himself admitted that Romualdez called him once — before he assumed office — asking for help “to defend himself.”

Zaldy Co’s viral video series painted a very different picture.
According to Co, millions in cash were hand-delivered to the residences of BBM and Romualdez over several years. Witness Orly Guteza even testified that he personally delivered luggage of cash to Romualdez.

But now the narrative tries to shift:

“No evidence daw.”
“Clear conscience daw.”
“Trust the process daw.”

The public isn’t buying it.

The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, led by Sen. Ping Lacson, recently revealed discrepancies in Guteza’s affidavit signatures — but that only adds another layer of suspicion rather than clarity.

Filipinos are now asking:

  • If everything was clean, why are there 3-part confession videos?

  • Why did Co’s testimonies involve specific dates, names, and locations?

  • And why did Romualdez call the Ombudsman the moment the scandal broke?

The truth is not decided by press releases. It is revealed by evidence — and right now, the evidence is slowly rising to the surface.
