Manny Pacquiao Steps In: Wants to Personally Supervise Jimuel’s Training After Debut Fight
Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao opened up about the anxiety he felt watching his son Jimuel Pacquiao make his professional boxing debut in Temecula, California. Despite ending in a majority draw, the bout against American fighter Brendan Lally was a defining moment not just for Jimuel — but for his father, too.

Manny admitted that the emotions were overwhelming:
"My muscles were shaking. My heart was beating too much… I wanted to shout instructions, but I knew he couldn’t hear me."
Because of that intense experience, the 8-division world champion now wants to directly supervise Jimuel’s next training camp.

Pacquiao emphasized that Jimuel showed promise, especially for someone with limited amateur experience, but he wants to guide him more closely moving forward:
"He can fight again, but I have to make sure I’m supervising his training. I don’t want that to happen again. He needs to improve more — his instinct and focus on his fight."
The boxing icon even expressed interest in having Jimuel join his own undercard, saying he wants to push his son to do better and unlock his full potential.
Despite the nerves, Manny still praised Jimuel’s heart and bravery:
"It’s a good experience. I’m satisfied with his performance, but I know he can do better."
For the Pacquiao family, boxing is more than a sport — it’s legacy, discipline, and passing the fire of greatness to the next generation.
