Trump Blasts Giants for ‘Crazy’ Decision in Costly Loss to the Detroit Lions
The New York Giants made headlines again — not for a comeback, but for a controversial in-game decision that drew the attention of former U.S. President Donald Trump.

In a tightly contested matchup against the Detroit Lions, the Giants elected to go for a touchdown instead of settling for a field goal late in the fourth quarter. With the game tied 27–27 and time running out, New York’s aggressive decision backfired.

Quarterback Malik Willis failed to connect on third down, and on fourth down, the Giants once again came up empty. The Lions marched downfield, kicked the game-winning field goal in overtime, and sealed New York’s fate.

Trump took to social media shortly after the loss, questioning New York’s decision:
“Why did the Giants NOT kick that final field goal? CRAZY decision!”
He added that the call was baffling, especially when the team had momentum.
Despite the loss, Lions rookie quarterback Jayden Gibbz was spectacular, finishing 18-for-36 for 366 yards and two touchdowns. Veteran Giants back Jalen Miller also delivered a strong performance — but turnovers and late-game mismanagement cost New York the win.
The Giants now fall to 2–10, deepening their struggles in a season filled with inconsistency, frustration, and growing pressure on the coaching staff.
