Vice President Sara Duterte addressed renewed threats of impeachment against her with a blunt assessment of public sentiment: the people are tired.

Speaking in Davao City, Duterte said impeachment talk has become exhausting and unproductive, especially in the absence of evidence. “It’s already tiring for the people—that impeachment—because we can see that there’s no evidence of their accusations,” she said.

Her remarks come as some civil society groups floated the idea of filing another impeachment complaint once the one-year constitutional ban expires in February. However, legal context complicates that move. Earlier this year, the Supreme Court of the Philippines ruled that the Articles of Impeachment previously transmitted by the House violated the one-year rule under Article XI, Section 3 of the Constitution, as well as Duterte’s right to due process.

Vice President Sara Duterte has issued a firm official statement categorically denying allegations made by Ramil Madriga, describing them as false, unsubstantiated, and politically motivated.

In her statement dated December 22, 2025, the Vice President said she has no personal relationship with Madriga and has never given him instructions of any kind, nor visited or communicated with him at any point. She further clarified that photographs submitted by Madriga were taken during public events and do not support claims of coordination or campaign involvement.

“These images merely show that he was present as part of a larger public gathering,” Duterte said, stressing that they do not establish any form of personal or operational link.

The Vice President also underscored that Madriga has offered no documentary evidence, no corroboration, and no independent proof—only accusations. She warned against equating repetition with truth, stating that bare allegations, no matter how loudly repeated, amount to nothing more than noise.

Duterte further noted that Madriga is currently facing serious criminal charges and has a prior criminal record, suggesting that his statements may be driven by desperation to secure release from detention.
